Introducing Tesamorelin, a potent growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) specifically designed to target excess abdominal fat caused by certain HIV treatments, known as lipodystrophy (LYE-poe-DIS-troe-fee). While Tesamorelin is not intended for weight loss, it has been approved for use in HIV-positive individuals to effectively reduce surplus abdominal fat associated with lipodystrophy.
Important Usage Information: It's essential to note that Tesamorelin is not a weight management solution and should not be used for obesity treatment. Due to limited research on long-term cardiovascular safety, it?s important to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment regularly. Patients who do not show a significant reduction in visceral fat, as assessed by waist circumference or CT scans, may need to reconsider their treatment plan.
Dosing Recommendations: The recommended dosage for Tesamorelin is 2 mg, administered subcutaneously once daily. For optimal results, inject into the abdomen while rotating injection sites. Avoid areas with scar tissue, bruises, or near the navel.
Reconstitution Guidelines: To prepare Tesamorelin, reconstitute it with the provided diluent. To do this, gently roll a 2 mg vial of Tesamorelin with 2.1 mL of diluent in your hands for about 30 seconds?avoid shaking vigorously. For detailed reconstitution instructions, refer to the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE leaflet included with the product. Administer Tesamorelin immediately after preparation and discard any remaining solution. If not used right away, the reconstituted solution should be disposed of and must not be frozen or refrigerated.
Administration Instructions: Always inspect the reconstituted Tesamorelin solution for any particles or discoloration before injecting. The solution should be clear, colorless, and free from any particulates. Administer the injection subcutaneously into the abdominal skin, ensuring to rotate injection sites and avoid areas of scar tissue, bruises, or the navel.
