SUBSTANCE Betahistine Dihydrochloride

Discover Betaserc, a powerful medication featuring betahistine, designed specifically to combat vertigo?a condition that triggers dizziness, imbalance, and the disorienting sensation of movement in stationary objects. By enhancing cerebral blood flow and improving circulation to the inner ear, Betaserc effectively alleviates dizziness and helps restore your sense of balance.

In addition to treating vertigo, Betaserc is also effective in managing tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and Meniere?s disease, an inner ear disorder. While it significantly reduces the frequency and severity of vertigo episodes, it's important to note that it does not completely prevent them.

Precautions

Betaserc is not suitable for everyone. Avoid using it if you:

  • Are allergic to betahistine or similar medications.
  • Have pheochromocytoma (a type of adrenal gland tumor).

Use with caution if you have asthma or a history of gastric or duodenal ulcers.

Use During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Betaserc may only be prescribed during pregnancy if the benefits to the mother outweigh any risks to the fetus, due to limited safety data. The transfer of betahistine into breast milk is unknown; therefore, it's advisable to avoid breastfeeding while on this medication.

How to Use

Betaserc is available in the following dosages:

  • Betaserc 8 mg
  • Betaserc 16 mg
  • Betaserc 24 mg

The typical initial dose is 8 mg taken three times daily, which can be adjusted up to 48 mg per day based on individual needs. This medication is not recommended for children under 18. For optimal effectiveness, swallow the tablets whole without chewing, and take them after meals to minimize stomach discomfort. Betaserc can be taken over extended periods (6 months to 1 year) as needed.

If dizziness persists, it's advised to refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery. Lifestyle changes?such as quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, and staying active?can further support the treatment of vertigo.
